Zij zijn bij voorkeur op zoek naar studenten van Marokkaanse, Burundese/Rwandese, Ethiopische, Nederlandse en Afghaanse afkomst.
Call for interns: IS Academy: Migration & Development Project
The Maastricht Graduate School of Governance is currently working on a project financed by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs to better understand the relationship between migration and development through the destination case of the Netherlands, and the origin countries of Afghanistan, Burundi, Ethiopia and Morocco.
The project aims to stimulate new approaches to development cooperation using the available knowledge on sustainable development and poverty reduction, and creating new evidence on effective policies.
The project will come up with policy suggestions to optimize the developmental impact of migration by stimulating the positive effects of migration, while mitigating the negative ones. For this objective, the project will investigate migration history and integration processes of migrants in the Netherlands on the one hand, and will examine the impact of economic remittances, transfer of knowledge, skills and values, and return migration on development on the other hand.
The main responsibilities of interns will be to implement the survey to the specified groups in the Netherlands. Intern positions are open to all Bachelor and Master Students. We prefer work to be conducted as a full-time job; however, those who can work part-time can also apply. The tentative period for the internship is the beginning of June 2010 till September 2010. Interns will receive training on interviewing, gain fieldwork experience, and be paid an intern fee.
Applicants should apply with a specific interest in at least one of the target groups. For all applicants English proficiency is mandatory, and Dutch proficiency is preferred.
